Deathbowl to Downtown - A history NYC Skateboarding

Going to watch Deathbowl to Downtown at MIFF next week.
"
A visceral 30-year history of New York City’s skateboarding street culture, as it kick-flipped its way from marginalisation to acceptance.
Coan Nichols and Rick Charnoski (Fruit of the Vine, MIFF 06) continue a 20-years-plus skating addiction with this artful sketch of NYC skating’s epochal shifts, from the parks and pools of the 70s, to ramp skating in the 80s, to the street ascendancy of the 90s.
Blends exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage with narration by Chloë Sevigny and a pumping period soundtrack.
“It started as a little project. It was like, we''ll do a quick 20 minute primer on the New York history… Then we fucking crawled down the rabbit hole and ended up in the wild, putting together this project that spans 30 years.” – filmmaker Coan Nichols
